HEALTHY PET THING LLC
Privacy policy
Last updated: September 25, 2026
Healthy Pet Thing LLC (HPT), owned and operated by Fisk Shogren in San Diego, California, is a pet store and pet-device development company. We provide products and services that make caring for and managing pets easier, including this website and its dog calorie and feeding-plan tools. This policy explains how we handle information through the website and services described below, or when you contact us. If a shopping or pet-device service collects additional information, we will provide privacy information specific to that service before collection.
Information we collect and why
- Account information: Microsoft Entra External ID manages sign-in through Google, Facebook, or email one-time passcode. We receive an account identifier and, when available, your display name and email address to create your HPT account and connect it to your saved dogs. For Facebook, we request basic public profile and email access; HPT stores the identifiers, name and email needed for its account features. We do not request your Facebook friends, posts or photos. HPT does not receive your provider password or store email sign-in codes.
- Dog profiles and feeding plans: We store information you choose to save, such as your dog's name, breed, age, weight, body condition, reproductive status, calorie target, selected food and calories allocated to treats or other foods. We use these details to calculate and display starting feeding recommendations and allow you to manage your dogs.
- Calculator drafts: To carry a calculation through sign-in, we temporarily store its details linked to an essential browser cookie. An anonymous calculation does not itself create a saved dog profile.
- Support: If you contact us, we receive your contact details and the information you include so we can respond and handle requests.
- Technical information: Hosting and identity services process connection and security information, which may include IP addresses, browser information, timestamps and authentication results, to deliver, secure and troubleshoot the service.
Smart pet management devices and applications
When you choose to connect a supported smart pet management device or application to HPT, we may collect information it generates or that you enter, depending on the device, its features and your settings. This may include device identifiers and connection status; feeding schedules; food portions scheduled, dispensed or recorded; feeding and care activity timestamps; pet measurements; care-plan goals; and reminders or completion records. Before enabling a connection, we will explain the information that integration collects and any permissions it requires. This section describes supported connected services when available; it does not mean every listed type of information is currently collected.
We use this information to help you follow your pet's feeding and care plans, compare recorded activities with planned targets, show progress and history, and provide reminders or alerts about missed activities or differences from your plan. Device status and diagnostic information may also help us maintain connections and troubleshoot problems. A dispensing record does not necessarily show how much food a pet consumed, and device readings or reminders are not a substitute for checking your pet's needs or obtaining veterinary advice.
Connected information may be associated with your HPT account and the pet profile you select. We use service providers as described in this policy to operate these features. If you connect a third-party device or application, we will explain the information exchanged with that provider; its handling of information is also governed by its own privacy policy. We do not use connected-device or care-plan information for targeted advertising.
You can stop future collection from an integration by disconnecting it through the available HPT, device or provider controls. Disconnecting does not automatically delete previously saved information. You can request access, correction or deletion through the contact details below. Before you enable a connected service, we will describe its retention period or retention criteria and available controls. Saved information and backup copies are otherwise handled as described in this policy. Optional website analytics preferences are separate from the data needed to operate a connected service you choose to enable.
Cookies and optional analytics
Essential cookies support sign-in, protect forms, carry calculator drafts and remember your analytics choice. HPT sign-in sessions last up to eight hours. Signing out ends the HPT session; your identity provider may still remember your browser.
Optional usage analytics are off until you allow them. We use Azure Application Insights to understand selected actions, including sign-in outcomes, completed calculations, dog creation or changes, food selection and viewing serving amounts. Events may contain a random session or operation identifier, a food catalog identifier and a limited outcome category. Our custom events exclude names, emails, dog identifiers, measurements, form contents and credentials. We do not use session recordings or link these analytics across devices.
You can change your choice through Analytics preferences. Changing your choice stops or enables future optional collection. Browser Do Not Track signals do not currently change this setting automatically.
Service providers and other disclosures
We use Microsoft Azure to host the website, store data, provide identity services and process optional analytics. Google and Meta process information when you choose their sign-in services, under their own privacy policies. Email sign-in is handled by Microsoft Entra. Providers may operate in the United States and other countries.
We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising. We may disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, or secure our services. Dog profiles are not published as a public directory.
External food-product links take you to other companies' websites. Those sites and identity-provider pages have their own practices, cookies and security checks, which this policy does not control. See the Microsoft, Google and Meta privacy policies.
How long we retain information
Saved account and dog information is retained to provide your account features until removed or deleted following a verified request, subject to information we must retain for legal or security reasons. Temporary calculator drafts expire after 30 minutes; expired drafts cannot be used and are removed by daily cleanup, normally within 24 hours after expiry while the service is operating. Cleanup may be delayed during an outage. Optional HPT usage events are retained for 30 days. Support and operational records are kept as needed for their purpose and applicable obligations. Provider-controlled records follow the provider's retention practices.
Removing a dog deletes its current profile and feeding plan. Limited technical records used to prevent duplicate requests become eligible for deletion after two days and are removed during daily cleanup. Earlier copies can remain in database backups for up to seven days under our current backup configuration.
Your choices and deletion requests
You can review and edit saved dog information and remove individual dogs in My dogs. To request access, correction or deletion of account information and associated dog records, email engagement@healthypetthing.com. We may ask for information needed to verify ownership and will respond as required by applicable law.
For account deletion, use the subject “HPT account data deletion” and include the email address and sign-in method used for HPT. Never send passwords or one-time codes. Requests are handled manually, with confirmation by email. See our account data deletion instructions.
Removing HPT from your Facebook or Google connected apps does not itself delete records already saved with HPT. We cannot delete your Facebook, Google or Microsoft account. Signing in through another method may create a separate HPT identity; matching email addresses are not automatically merged.
Security and children
We use safeguards including encrypted connections and access controls. No system can guarantee complete security. These tools are intended for adult pet owners and are not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and address it.
Policy changes and contact
We will post updates on this page and change the date above. For material changes, we will provide additional notice when required by applicable law.
